Information for Press

#OccupyTheBookstore

As covered in The Wall Street Journal, Lifehacker, Business Insider, ABC News, and many more outlets.

Please do not hesitate to contact CEO Peter Frank at peter@texts.com.

Summary

Occupy The Bookstore is a Chrome extension that overlays the best prices found on the web right onto the bookstore website that students already use

The extension works on colleges which use Follett, BNCollege, or Neebo software. This accounts for about 2,500 total universities and colleges in the United States and Canada. We are currently expanding out to some schools not serviced by Follett, BNCollege or Neebo.

We have received legal threats from Follett, but Occupy The Bookstore is not in any violation.

In order to see the plugin in action, simply install it, then visit this page from Northeastern's bookstore website.

Texts.com

Occupy The Bookstore is a Texts.com project. Texts.com is a student to student textbook exchange with price comparison built in. The plugin uses the Texts.com price comparison API.

Texts.com has active exchanges at several schools such as Yale, Utah State University and Wesleyan University.

Texts.com makes money by earning an affiliate commission when a user is directed to a website and buys a book. The listings are not affected by this commission and the listings are solely organized for student benefit. Texts.com does not receive any fee for student to student transactions.
